Who is this guy?

geekI’m John and this is one of a number of sites I maintain on the internet for personal reasons.  Anyone can say they’re a geek.  Few of them can work and play online as openly as I have and can for over a decade:

AIM: “A Thank You Note”
YIM: “johncribbs”
GIM: “johncribbs”
Skype: “johncribbs”
Twitter: “John_C”

I’m a Certified Recovery Peer Specialist-Adult (CRPS-A) in the State of Florida.

I received my Certification due to my proven demonstrated abilities in advocating mental health related Peer Support through Web2.0 technologies, as opposed to conventional means.

I challenged and proved to authorities the validity online networking has in impacting positively the lives of individuals and communities worldwide.

I’m a Content Writer and Forum Moderator for Fuelmyblog, the blog for the exclusive blog community, as well as one of it’s original first 500 members.

Fuemyapp is it’s offspring, offering people reimbursement of iPhone apps purchased if they give an honest review…thus, helping consumers know first hand whether an application is worth the money or not!

The Daily Dust is another side project gone wild, providing United Kingdom news sometimes not mentioned by local, national, and international media that’s uplifting and humorous for morning viewing!

I’m the Forum Administrator at Ancestry.com for my familys’ surname boards.

I’m a former member of the Board of Directors for the Emergency Services & Homeless Coalition of Jacksonville, Inc, helping direct the lead agency’s business of grant writing and dispersement of over 5.5 million USD to non-profit agencies and service providers in my local community.

I’m a former member of the Board of Directors for Empowerment First, Inc, a non-profit agency providing advocacy, education, and opportunity for residents of my local community.

I’m a former employee of America Online Technologies, before Time Warner, before Winamp, before Netscape.

Nearly a decade later, people still contact me at my above Screen Name and a decade later I still give the same advice I’d want if it were me needing help.

I’m involved in a local project to recycle old computer parts into working systems for people recovering from homelessness and/or mental illness, having done so myself successfully.

I started a website in 2004 called Homeless In Jax, when initially my family and I first experienced it and continued through and out two years later.  I maintained a blog about it that would become Google’s and Yahoo’s #1 Search Engine Rank Placement (SERP) hit on a search for “homeless family” online.

I can’t tell people what they need or want as opposed to offering support, hope, and mentoring to help people overcome barriers to pursue their goals.

I live with a diagnosis of Bipolar Type II Disorder, struggle at being the best single parent to both children living with me and not.

I sometimes write ‘in character’ as egotistical. Much of my writing elsewhere and sometimes here is meant ‘tongue in cheek’.

I’m opinionated, believe in what I say fully. When I’m right, I’m right. When I’m wrong I’m still right. I accept it either way and concentrate on being right all the time.

I think you’re a pretty decent person if I’ve commented on your site. If I participate anywhere, it means that site either provides me value directly or it’s something I’d recommend to others.

Links included in some entries are paid for. Some entries relate to items I’ve been asked to provide opinion. Entries tagged “.:The Man” are in such a category.

Commenting on this site is moderated and subject to editing or removal at my discretion.

I’m totally approachable whether to chat, requests for advice, or help in brainstorming solutions within online community development.  Feel free to contact me any time.
