Blog Naked: Why I have issues with Veterans’ Day

kids

Flashbacks.

I have issues with people marching in parades regarding the military, especially when it comes to prior service members looking like a cluster fuck.

Unless someone’s disabled where their ability to march is affected due to symptoms, it is their responsibility to honor those they march for by doing so to the best of their ability.

Anything less ridicules the meaning.

There are those that willingly and unwillingly gave up lives, limbs, and freedom.  Opting in to participate in such proceedings is a matter of personal choice.

Having made the choice to do so comes with the responsiblity of carrying out such a thing with the respect owed it.

I can understand the crowds not having had made the choice to serve not ‘getting it’.  Having seen the number of parades in the past of Veterans disgracing the honor of other Veterans not able to march…that disgusts me.

I would rather spend my day pursuing life, liberty, freedom, happiness, and joy the majority of the day in my own pursuits than waste in efforts that only ‘buy in’ to the mob mentality.

Yesterday I did the following to remember those that stood up against evil

No cooking other than water heated for instant coffee. Cold cuts, cheeses, vegetables, and crackers.

Walmartin’: Inner tubes for my son’s bike.  Chronicles of Riddick set for $13USD.  Five bags of groceries for a combined total less than $100USD.

Lounging with my sons.  Fixing bike tires.  Putting Tabasco sauce on my sandwich.

Doing so gives me moments when I can quietly reflect in private crying like a baby during the normal coming and goings of my day as I always do.

I didn’t do anything yesterday for anyone else, I did it all for me because that’s what a Veteran gave me the chance to do.

I don’t think that person would have wanted it any other way.

remember

A Veteran isn’t defined by the government they serve.  They are defined by what they are called to serve.

  • I love that ‘Pittance of Time’ video because it does always bring a tear or two, something I think is quite appropriate and even necessary… and able to be accomplished as you mention, in private and as often as one sees fit.

    Thank you for linking it.
